This application software (hereinafter referred as “the Application”) is an instant messaging application that provides users a high degree of information security and personal privacy protection. When you are using the Application, we may collect or record some information related to you. It is always our highest priority and policy to respect your privacy information. Our privacy policy is as following:
The Application’s User
If you are using a mobile phone number (or Email account) to apply for an account, the Application will request you to provide a mobile phone number (or Email account) to receive the Application activation code. This activation code is sent to you via SMS (or email). This mobile phone number (or Email account) will be stored on our server. The Application’s server also uses this mobile phone number (or Email account) to find your friends. For example, when your friend and you both have the mobile phone number (or Email account) saved in the address book, and you both registered as a user, both of you will automatically be added to each other as a contact in the Application.
To properly use the Application, you have to allow the Application to access your device’s address book. Phone numbers in your device’s address book will be uploaded to the Application’s servers to find your friends, and that result will be stored on the Application’s servers as well. The Application also requires information such as the type and version of your device’s operating system, the device ID, the device type and name, and the IP address.
Unless requested by applicable law or regulation, legal process, or government, otherwise our company does not disclose your personal information to a third party.
When you are using the Application to share photos, videos, and geographic locations with friends, the shared content is cached on the Application’s server or on a third-party CDN acceleration server for the purpose of improving performance. Although cached content is purged over time, the Application cannot guarantee that it will not be copied or accessed before it is purged. The Application doesn’t provide a way to remove content from the cache, but all content stored on the Application’s server is encrypted, and no one, including our employees, is able to view the content. The avatars uploaded to your profile will be cached on the server in a similar manner. Even if you delete your avatars, the avatars stored in the cache will not necessarily be deleted.
Principle on Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
The Application requires collecting your information as you use and communicate through our Services, and your information will be used to help operate, provide, improve, understand, customize, support, and market our Services without sharing your information with a third party.
User Reporting and Moderation System
User Reporting:
- Users can report inappropriate content by long-pressing a message and selecting “Report” to notify us.
- The reporting feature includes reporting text, images, videos, or other message types.
Server-Side Handling:
- Upon user reporting, the server collects the last five messages, timestamps, and message types from the reported user.
- Users will continue to see reported content until it undergoes backend review, deletion, or until the reported user is directly suspended.
Moderation Process:
- A dedicated moderation team reviews reported content on a tool or dashboard.
- Moderators can examine reported content, user reports, and additional context.
- Actions may include content removal, user account suspension for severe or repeated violations, and hiding relevant content from app users.
Report and Ban:
- Users can choose to “Report and Ban,” following the outlined moderation process, resulting in content reporting and the suspension of the reported user.
Data Collection and Usage
User Information:
- During the account creation process, the Application requests a mobile phone number (or email) to send an activation code.
- Information is stored securely on the server and used to find friends with matching contact details.
- Users must allow access to their device’s address book for proper app functionality.
Shared Content:
- Shared photos, videos, and locations are cached on the server for performance improvement.
- Cached content may be purged over time, but the Application cannot guarantee prevention of access before purging.
- Content stored on the server is encrypted, ensuring privacy.
Gathering Personally Identifying Information:
- User information is collected for the purpose of operating, improving, and customizing our Services without sharing it with third parties.
User Behavior Data Collection
Statistics:
- Anonymous statistics about user behavior may be collected and utilized for service improvement.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
Our company discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to company employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations that meet the following conditions:
- Need to know the information to process it on the Application’s behalf or to provide services available at the Application, and
- Have agreed not to disclose it to others
Some of those employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using the Application, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. The Application will not rent or sell potentially or definitively personally-identifying information to anyone other than as described above.
Our company discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when:
- In response to a subpoena,
- Court order or other governmental request, or
- Our company believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of our company, third parties, or the public at a large scale.
If you are a user, the Application may occasionally send you Push Notifications to tell you about new features, to solicit your feedback, or to keep you up to date with our company and our products.
If you have sent us a request for technical support, feedback, or suggestions, we reserve the right to publish it to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. Our company takes all reasonably necessary measures to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
Impact of Organization or Business Transfer
If our company, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired by a third party, or in an unlikely event that our company goes out of business or announces bankruptcy, user information as part of the assets would be transferred to a third party. By using the Application, you agree that your information may be transferred to a third party, and the third party may continue to use your user information as set forth in this policy.
Privacy Policy Changes
Our company may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and at our company’s sole discretion. We encourages users to frequently check for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the application after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such a change.
